Hi, I’m Amy — welcome to my blog.
Like many people, my school years left their mark on me. I came out with a few GCSEs, little confidence, and a feeling that maybe I wasn’t “enough.” Only later, as an adult, did I discover I have dyscalculia and ADHD — things that explained so much of my struggles in school, but that went unnoticed at the time.
I also know what it’s like to face bullying and to carry those wounds into adulthood. For a long time, I believed the labels that school and others put on me.
But that’s not the whole story.
Today, I work in the community, teaching a wide range of topics to people from all walks of life — from those changing careers, to parents, carers, people facing mental or physical health challenges, or rebuilding life after prison or homelessness.
What I’ve learned is this: school isn’t the end of the story.
Many of us leave education feeling boxed in, disconnected from our creativity, or unsure of our worth. But we can unlearn those lessons, reclaim our curiosity, and grow in ways we never thought possible.
For me, nature has been a powerful teacher. Step outside and you’ll see it: growth without comparison, creativity without rules, learning without walls. That’s the kind of mindset I believe we all need — and the kind I want to explore here with you.
Through this blog, I’ll share reflections on:
- How school shapes us long after we leave.
- Ways to rebuild confidence, creativity, and curiosity.
- How nature can inspire us to think differently.
- Ideas for helping the next generation grow with healthier mindsets.
This space is for anyone who ever felt limited by school — and wants to rewrite their story.
Thanks for being here 💚
Amy
