Have you ever noticed how much of school still lives inside your head? Not the dates, formulas, or French verbs we memorised — most of those are long gone. I’m talking about the messages we absorbed without even realising it.
The quiet rules about what success looks like.
Who’s “clever” and who isn’t.
Whether creativity really matters.
These lessons didn’t end when we left the classroom. Many of us are still carrying them into our adult lives today, like hidden messages that only reappear when we’re triggered: failure is bad, grades define our worth, and creativity belongs in the back seat.
The Backpack We Carry
The adults I see today carry with them a backpack of bad experiences and heavy feelings from their education: reluctance to learn, fear of judgement, low confidence, and a fixed mindset.
They often tell me there’s no point going back to education, because it will simply repeat the pain of their past. All those feelings bubble back up like lava forcing its way out of a volcano.
These are deep, entangled scars — ones that have been left, but never healed.
Rewriting Old Lessons
But here’s the truth: we can rewrite those lessons.
One mindset I’ve personally unlearned is about control. I used to think I had to manage how others treated me. Now I know the only thing I can control is what I do and say.
If someone chooses to be unkind, that’s on them. It says more about who they are than who I am. My choice is peace — to walk away, and not carry their behaviour as my burden.
This shift has changed me deeply. It’s simple, but it works — if you keep practising it.
What Nature Reminds Us
Persistence is something nature has in abundance. The ability to adapt to challenges, to continue growing in its own way, to thrive in unlikely places — it’s everywhere if you look.
There are many lessons that nature teaches us:
🌱 Growth without comparison
🌱 Learning without walls
🌱 Progress without pressure
🌱 Creativity without limits
🌱 Confidence without conditions
You might feel like you’re in the dark right now — but remember, growth happens there too.
Reclaim your creativity, curiosity, and confidence. Be proud to be you.
Maybe it’s time for you to blossom…
